2017 marks the 10th year I have been a Registered Dietitian (where has the time gone?!?). I can honestly tell you that I have enjoyed my career more than I ever dreamed possible. Having the privilege to help individuals improve their health by using ‘food as medicine’ has been truly rewarding. One of the reasons I went on to specialize in diabetes and become a diabetes educator was simple…I was blown away by how quickly blood sugars can change, based on what we eat!
Â
And now, after years of working with individuals at all stages of their diabetes journey (borderline, newly diagnosed, or 40+ years) I’ve been able to see what works (and what doesn’t) as well as understand how empowering it can be for someone to no longer wonder if they are eating the right foods.
Â
One of the most common misconceptions I’ve heard over the years from my clients is:  “having diabetes means you have to eat foods that  I don’t really like…I’m going to miss out on the food I’ve always enjoyed the most“.  Truth is, this doesn’t have to be the case. In fact, eating with diabetes not only can be delicious and fulfilling, it absolutely SHOULD be!
Â
Saying that is one thing…but why not show you?
Â
Diabetes is affecting more people than ever before. If 1 in 3 adults in the US are being diagnosed with pre diabetes or diabetes, why aren’t there more diabetes specific nutrition resources available that won’t leave us feeling isolated, confused, and looking for more?Â
Â
It’s time we make that change. I want to show you a simple, understandable, sustainable and results-driven way to eat. A way that will help improve your blood sugar while truly nourishing and satisfying you.Â
Â
With these goals in mind, I decided to create the number one request I receive from my clients…an all-inclusive meal plan filled with recipes and a grocery shopping guide.  Even better? I want to make it available to anyone that is interested…for FREE! This allows me to share with you the full set of tools necessary to begin lowering your blood sugar, without sacrificing delicious foods.
Â

Hi Alex, and lean protein source would not include sugar. This could be fish/shellfish, poultry, pork tenderloin, etc. Examples of Carb and sugar free plant protein sources would include nuts and seeds. Hope this helps!!

I have been trying to get my brother to get his diet under control for a long time. He has exhibited some symptoms of diabetes already. I like that you mentioned that you don’t have to have diabetes to eat a healthy diet and avoid excess sugar.

Hi, Thanks For Your Top-Notch Article. Actually, Many people can keep their blood glucose in a healthy range without medications (either oral diabetes medications or insulin injections) if they lose weight and keep their weight down, are regularly physically active, and follow a meal plan that helps them keep portion sizes under control and helps them spread the amount of carbohydrate they eat at each meal throughout the day.
