The best kind of dessert? The kind that you don’t have to share!
If you’ve been looking for a recipe that uses ingredients that are already in your pantry, look no further than this single serving chocolate mug cake! It is healthier than your typical dessert, since it is higher in fiber and lower in sugar than most others, making it a better option for those with diabetes.
I originally shared this recipe with Julianne Hough, and I think you will be just as surprised as she was that black beans in a chocolate dessert is actually a pretty yummy combo!

Hi,
Can it be put on the oven instead of the microwave. If so, what temperature and how long?
Thanks,
Dee
The taste was ok, but I honestly haven’t found hardly any mug cakes that I love.
The biggest problem for me was that I would need to probably quadruple the recipe just so my (individual smoothie-making) blender would even touch the ingredients. Maybe if I used the nut chopper blade? Needless to say the texture was chunky, since I basically just smooshed it all up a little before microwaving it.
Thanks for your feedback, Jamie. Yes, you could definitely use a coffee grinder or nut chopper to blend the ingredients. Also, I’ve found that using high quality chocolate can make a big difference. And if you are looking for a little extra flavor, you can also try adding a teaspoon or so of espresso.
