According to the latest report from the Centers for Disease Control, (CDC) only 26% of American Adults consume at least 3 servings of vegetables per day! (Source: CDC Report) One serving of vegetables is defined as ½ cup of cruciferous vegetables, ½ cup cooked beans, 1 cup of leafy greens or 1 large sweet potato. This week, increase your intake of vegetables by bringing your favorite vegetable to work as a snack, replacing meat with beans, or adding more side salads and stir fries to your eating plan.
Want to make it even easier on yourself? Just follow the new USDA plate method, which has now replaced the Food Guide Pyramid. It shows that the majority of every meal should be coming from vegetables. Check it out for yourself…what do you think?
